Melissa Mantak will be instructing three open water swim clinics at the Aurora Reservoir on June 15th, June 29th and July 13th from 6-8:30 PM.
Melissa competed in triathlons for 10 years, as a professional for 6 years. During that time, she achieved numerous podium finishes at the World Cup level. In 1992, she placed 3rd at the World Championships in Muskoka, Canada - capturing the overall World Cup Title. That same year she was voted Triathlete of the Year by the US Olympic Committee. In 1993 she added to this impressive list of accomplishments by winning first ITU Indoor World Championship title.
Melissa is a certified Level 3 (Elite) Coach by USA Triathlon, a Level 2 (Expert) coach by USA Cycling (Level 1/Elite scheduled for 2009) and a Performance Enhancement Specialist, certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Melissa will teach each participant about required equipment, entry & exit techniques, bilateral breathing, proper body position and sighting tips. She will focus on providing you with the skills that will help you to cross the finish line with a smile on your face.
All participants will be getting wet so please plan accordingly by bringing a swimcap, swimsuit, wetsuit (if applicable), towel and goggles.

Toll Road Directions: Take 1-25 or C470 to E470 and exit at Quincy Road, Exit #13. Follow Quincy Road East to Powhatan Road which is approximately 2 miles from the exit. Turn right and follow the road to the Aurora Reservoir entrance.
Non-Toll Road Directions: Take I-25 to I-225 North and exit at South Parker Road and go South. Turn left at Quincy and head East. This road will go under E470 and the entrance to the Aurora Reservoir will be approximately 2 miles from this point. Turn right and follow the road to the Aurora Reservoir entrance.
After passing through the gate take the first right after the boat storage facility and follow the road all the way back to the parking lot. Registration and check-in are located just outside of the snack bar area at the covered picnic site next to the volleyball court. All clinics begin promptly at 6:30 PM.
Cancellation/Refund Policy:
The safety of all race participants is our primary concern. Therefore, should the race director and/or park staff determine that weather conditions make for a dangerous situation at any time before or during the clinic, the clinic will be postponed for up to 30 minutes. If conditions improve the event course may need to be altered. If conditions do not improve and the clinic will be canceled and there will be no refunds issued.
